Obama health care law at crucial turning point

The battle is steeped in political score-settling, and the Obama team has plenty to answer for. Since going live on Oct. 1, the main federal website, www.healthcare.gov, has proved balky and unresponsive in handling millions of insurance-plan shoppers. By design, the Obama law obliges a handful of basics such as prescription drugs, maternity care, and mental health coverage that weren’t always included in prior bare-bones plans. Since insurance firms must meet the new standards, they’re dropping old plans, an action that’s at odds with the president’s prior no-worry assurances.
