Microsoft employees put LinkedIn China in the crosshairs

LinkedIn China has been walking a difficult tightrope in China. Chinese LinkedIn users are free to connect and follow users from around the world, allowing the platform to operate as a vector for destabilising information from the so-called “international internet.” This became clear in January, when New York-based democracy activist Zhou Fengsuo’s account was blocked and then subsequently unblocked for Chinese users. Zhou had reportedly posted videos on LinkedIn of himself destroying a book by Xi Jinping and calling for Xi’s removal from office.
